#1500 • (2) Series 1935 E $1 Silver Certificates – Blue Seal, Washington
Part of October Multi-Estate Auction (timed auction by Bid Fast and Last)
High bid $10.00
Status: Available
Two one-dollar Silver Certificates, both Series 1935 E. Blue Treasury seal on the right of each face, printed over 'WASHINGTON D.C.' Across the bottom border runs the line that made these notes what they were: 'IN SILVER PAYABLE TO THE BEARER ON DEMAND.' George Washington holds the center, labeled by name. The treasurer signature reads as what appears to be Ivy Baker Priest on both notes, with the Secretary of the Treasury signature appearing to be Humphrey. Flip them over and you get the classic green back: 'ONE' in the center, the pyramid side of the Great Seal at left, the eagle at right. These notes look to have lived a life. The paper appears toned, with soft or uneven edges. Both faces carry what appear to be handwritten marks, including date-like notations at left; the lower note also shows what looks to be a hand-drawn circle near the left '1'. The upper note appears to have a corner clipped or missing, and the lower note what appears to be an irregular or clipped corner. The upper back shows what appears to be spotting near the center, and the lower back what looks to be a small purple mark near the lower right. Somebody kept these, and wrote on them. Now they're yours to keep. Series: 1935 E All lots sell as-is, where-is, with no warranty expressed or implied. Preview in person before bidding.
