#1600 • 1979 U.S. Mint Proof Set – Six Coins incl. Susan B. Anthony Dollar
Part of October Multi-Estate Auction (timed auction by Bid Fast and Last)
High bid $15.00
Status: Available
A 1979 United States Mint proof set, six coins strong, with the Susan B. Anthony dollar riding in its own larger ring. The holder is printed "PACKAGED BY U.S. MINT," and the base strip reads "UNITED STATES PROOF SET." The lineup: Kennedy half dollar, Susan B. Anthony dollar, Washington quarter, Jefferson nickel, Lincoln cent and Roosevelt dime. The half, dollar and quarter are dated 1979. The nickel, cent and dime appear to be dated 1979 as well, and six coins looks to be the standard count for a 1979 set. An S mint mark appears on the dollar, left of the bust, and on the quarter, right of the neck, with what appears to be an S above the date on the half. The coins show what appear to be mirrored fields with frosted devices, consistent with proof strikes. Flip it over and the reverses are a short tour of Americana: Monticello, the Lincoln Memorial, torch with olive and oak, the heraldic eagle on the half, the eagle on the quarter, and the Apollo 11 eagle landing on the Moon on the Anthony dollar. The black textured back cover carries a silver eagle-and-shield emblem. The clear plastic looks to have light surface scratches and haze in places, and the back cover appears to have light white marks or scuffs, mostly near the upper right edge.
