#1604 • Lot of 12 Washington Quarters - W, P & D Mint Marks, 1965, 1988-D
Part of October Multi-Estate Auction (timed auction by Bid Fast and Last)
High bid $5.00
Status: Available
Twelve Washington quarters, one lot. Leading the group is a current-style quarter with a W mint mark, alongside current-style coins with P and D mint marks. A fourth current-style coin carries a small mint mark that appears to be a P. These four coins wear the obverse lettered UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and QUARTER DOLLAR around the bust, and they are the brightest and least worn of the bunch. The older coins span the decades. There is a 1965, a 1970, a 1988-D, a coin that appears to be dated 1979, and one that looks to be dated in the 1980s. The 1979 coin shows a small mark right of the ribbon that may be a D mint mark. This is a circulated group, and it looks the part. Most of the coins show wear, toning or corrosion. The 1988-D has dark toning or residue across the fields, and the 1965 has green residue or discoloration on its surface. One coin is bent or creased across the face, with green discoloration along the crease and only the "19" of its date showing. Two others are heavily corroded, one with reddish and pink discoloration and dark pits, the other dark reddish-purple with a small green spot, and their dates and designs are obscured. A good pickup for a date-and-mint-mark hunter or anyone filling a starter album. All lots sell as-is, where-is, with no warranty expressed or implied. Preview in person before bidding.
