#1610 • Lot of (9) Jefferson Nickels, 8 Carded, Hand-Labeled 1939 to 1968

Part of October Multi-Estate Auction (timed auction by Bid Fast and Last)

High bid $15.00

Status: Available

Nine Jefferson nickels from an old-school collection, eight of them carded and hand-labeled by a previous owner. Each card names the coin and gives it a grade in that collector's own hand: a 1947-D marked FINE, a 1948-P marked E.F., a 1952-P marked V.F., a 1968-S marked AU, a second 1948-P marked E.F., and a 1939-P marked E.F. A seventh card is shown as "1952 S". The eighth card is plain white with no visible handwriting. The coins speak up too. The 1947, 1948 and 1968 dates read clearly on their cards, and the 1952-P card holds what appears to be a 1952 coin, sitting rotated in its window. The cards look to be stapled cardboard, each with a round window showing the coin. The ninth coin rides loose and shows what appears to be a Jefferson obverse. The grades are a prior owner's handwritten opinions, not third-party grades. The holders show their age: worn edges on the 1947-D card, brown spots on the 1968-S card, staining at the lower right of the 1952-P card. Somebody sorted, labeled and kept these for years. Your turn. Includes: (8) Carded Coins All lots sell as-is, where-is, with no warranty expressed or implied. Preview in person before bidding.
