#1614 • Lincoln Pennies Lot: 1971-S Lincoln Cent in Holder, Memorial & Shield Backs
Part of October Multi-Estate Auction (timed auction by Bid Fast and Last)
Starting at $5.00
Status: Available
A pile of Lincoln pennies with one standout sitting up front: a Lincoln cent dated 1971 with an S mintmark below the date, housed in a square cardboard 2x2-style holder and hand-labeled '1971 S' in ink. Flip it over and the Lincoln Memorial reverse shows through the window, with UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM and ONE CENT. The holder is stapled on all four sides and shows its age, with staining, grime and a dark spot at the lower left of the front. The rest of the lot is loose: what appears to be about 33 coins in all, counting the holdered one. Every coin whose design can be made out appears to be a Lincoln cent. Several show the Lincoln Memorial reverse, generally known as the design used from 1959 through 2008. Several more show the Union Shield reverse with ONE CENT across it, the design generally used from 2010 onward. At least two of the bright ones look to be dated 2018. Color runs the full range, from bright orange copper to brown and dark toned, with spotting, dark patches and mottled surfaces on some. A good sorting lot for a searcher or a starter jar for a young collector, with a mintmarked 1971 already pulled out and labeled. All lots sell as-is, where-is, with no warranty expressed or implied. Preview in person before bidding.
