#1618 • (6) Buffalo Nickels 1924-1937 Lot in Individual 2x2 Holders
Part of October Multi-Estate Auction (timed auction by Bid Fast and Last)
High bid $20.00
Status: Available
Six Buffalo nickels, 1924 to 1937, each sitting in its own white cardboard 2x2 holder with a clear window. Indian head on the front, bison on the back. James Earle Fraser's design is one of the most recognised American coins ever struck. The dates run 1924, 1926, 1927, 1930, 1934 and 1937, each written by hand on its holder. A prior owner also pencilled in a grade: five holders are marked "VF" and the 1930 is marked "FINE". The coins look to be circulated, with what appears to be flattening on the high points of the Indian head and the bison. They were struck in what is generally known to be a 75% copper / 25% nickel alloy, the standard for the series. Six dates from the series' later years, already sorted and labeled. Good for filling a date set, starting one, or handing to someone who wants to learn what an old nickel feels like. All lots sell as-is, where-is, with no warranty expressed or implied. Preview in person before bidding.
