#1650 • World's Smallest U.S. Coins (Replicas): Five-Coin Miniature Set in Holder

Part of October Multi-Estate Auction (timed auction by Bid Fast and Last)

Pocket change, shrunk. This is a set of World's Smallest U.S. Coins, five miniature replica coins in their cardboard holder. The holder says so up front: 'WORLD'S SMALLEST U.S. COINS (Replicas)' is printed right on it. These are novelty miniatures, not genuine U.S. coinage, and that is the charm. One coin is copper-colored and four are silver-colored. They appear to copy the Lincoln cent, Jefferson nickel, Roosevelt dime, Kennedy half dollar and Susan B. Anthony dollar designs. The nickel, half dollar and dollar pieces are dated 1980, and the cent and dime appear to carry 1980 as well. The Anthony-design piece shows what appears to be a small 'P' to the left of the portrait. Flip it over and the backs look to be eagle designs on the half dollar and dollar pieces and a building on the nickel. The cent appears darkened and toned, and the dollar piece shows what looks to be a yellowish tint. The coins sit in a clear plastic sleeve behind a round window in a stapled cardboard holder. The holder shows its age: discoloration, spotting, surface wear and fraying at the window edge, and the plastic is wrinkled. A fun desk piece, a stocking stuffer for a young collector, or a conversation starter for the coin cabinet. All lots sell as-is, where-is, with no warranty expressed or implied.
