#1700 • Mexican Pesos Coin Lot: 1971 Un Peso, Heptagonal Coin, Eagle Designs
Part of October Multi-Estate Auction (timed auction by Bid Fast and Last)
High bid $5.00
Status: Available
A handful of Mexico in one lot. Many of these coins carry the legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS around the Mexican eagle-and-snake, the national emblem that turns up on everything from pocket change to flags. Headliner: a UN PESO piece dated 1971, with a portrait bust facing left. The shapes and colors keep it interesting. One coin is seven-sided and silver-colored. One large brass-colored coin shows the eagle and the full legend. There is what appears to be a copper- or bronze-colored eagle coin, and a run of what appear to be bimetallic two-tone coins, ring and center in contrasting silver and gold colors. One small two-tone piece looks to be marked $1. Not everything here is a peso. Several coins appear to be marked in centavos, including what look to be scalloped brass-colored 50¢ pieces, a small aluminum-colored coin marked 5¢, and a small dark-toned coin showing a 20 with a radiant cap design. The group appears to be loose coins showing circulation wear and toning, the kind of mix that comes out of a drawer, a travel jar, or a collector's starter pile. Good for a type collector, a traveler's keepsake, or a kid's first coin box. Starts low, sells to the last bid. All lots sell as-is, where-is, with no warranty expressed or implied.
