#1710 • (3) 1996 Liberia $50 "Face on Mars" Commemorative Coins

Part of October Multi-Estate Auction (timed auction by Bid Fast and Last)

High bid $15.00

Status: Available

Three 1996 Liberia 50 Dollars coins, all bearing "Face on Mars" commemorative designs. One side carries a raised face design ringed by the legend FIGHT HUNGER THROUGH SPACE EXPLORATION, with THE "FACE" ON MARS lettered beneath it. It is a coin that knows exactly what it is about. Flip them over and it is REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA, dated 1996 on either side of the shield, with the denomination 50 DOLLARS. The coat of arms shows a sailing ship, a palm tree and a bird, under a banner. You get all three. Two sit in clear round plastic capsules and one is in a stapled cardboard 2x2 holder with a clear window. Keep one, trade one, give one to the friend who still talks about the Face on Mars. All lots sell as-is, where-is, with no warranty expressed or implied. Preview in person before bidding.
