Part of October Multi-Estate Auction (timed auction by Bid Fast and Last)

High bid $20.00

Status: Available

Leading this lot is a Banque de France Cent Francs note carrying the printed date 6-4-1939. It is printed PAYABLES EN ESPECES, A VUE, AU PORTEUR, with signature titles Le Caissier Gal and Le Secretaire Gal, and engraver credits LUC OLIVIER-MERSON DEL and ROMAGNOL SC along the margin. It shows what appear to be fold lines, plus faint marks or writing inside the blank watermark circle at top center. The military issues come next. Two Allied Military Currency 10 lire notes, Issued in Italy and marked Series of 1943 A, are not consecutively numbered. The bottom-right one appears to have a torn upper right corner and some soiling. A green and blue 5 francs note printed Émis en France is marked what appears to be Série de 1944, and looks to be the Allied Military Currency issue for France. A purple and blue on tan De Japansche Regeering Tien Cent note appears to be a WWII Japanese occupation issue for the Netherlands Indies. Rounding it out: a Japanese 10 yen note (拾圓) with a portrait of a man in traditional dress at right. It appears to be a Bank of Japan issue featuring Wake no Kiyomaro, and shows what appear to be brown spots, mainly along the right side. Belgium contributes two Banque Nationale de Belgique notes, both marked TRESORERIE. The red Cinq Francs ou Un Belga appears to have fold lines and a tear or crease at the upper right corner. The grey Cinq Francs, with a double portrait that appears to be King Albert I and Queen Elisabeth, has heavy damage: missing pieces along the top edge and corners, holes, tears, soiling and wear. All lots sell as-is, where-is, with no warranty expressed or implied. Preview in person before bidding.
