#1508 • (2) Series 1957 A $1 Silver Certificates - Blue Seal, Smith/Dillon
Part of October Multi-Estate Auction (timed auction by Bid Fast and Last)
High bid $10.00
Status: Available
Two one dollar Silver Certificates, both Series 1957 A. Blue Treasury seal to the right of George Washington, blue serial [removed], and that line every collector likes to read: "IN SILVER PAYABLE TO THE BEARER ON DEMAND." Both notes carry the signatures of Elizabeth Rudel Smith, Treasurer of the United States, and C. Douglas Dillon, Secretary of the Treasury. On the face, the upper note shows C3 and C 661, and the lower note shows F2 and F 633. The serials are unrelated, so this is two separate notes, not a consecutive run. Flip them over and you get the green back: "IN GOD WE TRUST," the pyramid and the eagle of the Great Seal. Back plate numbers appear to read 385 and 347. The pair also gives you a contrast. The upper note appears to show fold lines and light handling wear, with what looks to be relatively clean paper. The lower note looks to be the one that did the work. It appears to have multiple creases, soiling and toning, and softened edges. One for the album, one with stories. Series 1957 A. All lots sell as-is, where-is, with no warranty expressed or implied. Preview in person before bidding.
