#1607 • 2005 Buffalo Nickel & Kansas Quarter 8-Coin Set, The Morgan Mint
Part of October Multi-Estate Auction (timed auction by Bid Fast and Last)
High bid $10.00
Status: Available
Two bison coins, four ways each. This Complete 2005 Buffalo Coin Set pairs the 2005 bison-reverse five-cent piece with the 2005 Kansas state quarter. Eight coins in all: four nickels across the top, four quarters across the bottom. Each coin comes in four versions: plain, gold-colored, hologram-style with a white or iridescent bison, and fully colorized. The nickels carry the 2005 bison reverse with UNITED STATES of AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM and FIVE CENTS. The quarters show the Kansas design, a bison with sunflowers, marked KANSAS 1861 and 2005. Flip the card and you get the fronts: Washington quarters reading QUARTER DOLLAR and LIBERTY, and Jefferson nickels with the forward-facing portrait, Liberty script and 2005. The card is marked © The Morgan Mint, a private company and not the U.S. Mint. Its text lists the editions as colorized, hologram, Brilliant Uncirculated, and plated in 24 Karat Pure Gold. Those are the card's own words. The colorized, hologram and gold finishes appear to be aftermarket treatments applied to U.S. Mint coins. The card also tells the story: the 2005 Buffalo Nickel marked the 200th anniversary of the Lewis & Clark Expedition, and the Kansas quarter joined it that same year. A bison collector's one-card shortcut to 2005. All lots sell as-is, where-is, with no warranty expressed or implied. Preview in person before bidding.
