Part of October Multi-Estate Auction (timed auction by Bid Fast and Last)

High bid $25.00

Status: Available

Two nickel collections, one lot. The headliner is a History of U.S. Nickels Coin Collection: eight coins in a display holder, each labeled, running the American five-cent piece from 1883 to 2006. The printed labels read 1883-1912 Liberty Nickel, 1913-1938 Buffalo Nickel, 1938-2003 Jefferson Nickel, 2004 Peace Medal Nickel, 2004 Keelboat Nickel, 2005 Bison Nickel, 2005 Ocean View Nickel and 2006 Return to Monticello Nickel. The Liberty position holds a coin with the Liberty head on the front and the big 'V' in a wreath on the back. The Buffalo position shows what appears to be the Indian head front and bison back. Both older coins look to be circulated pieces. The Peace Medal nickel carries the clasped hands and 'LOUISIANA PURCHASE 1803'. The Keelboat nickel shows its keelboat and 'LEWIS & CLARK'. The Bison, Ocean View and Monticello coins appear to show the forward-facing Jefferson portrait with script 'Liberty'. The holder looks to be a clear plastic case, so both sides of every coin are on view, and the back carries a printed certificate card. Second item: the Racketeer Nickel. A black folder that opens like a book, with a printed story on the left panel and one gold-colored coin set in the right. The folder is printed '"RACKETEER NICKEL"' and '24 KARAT GOLD PLATED 1883 "NO CENTS" LIBERTY HEAD NICKEL'. It is one of the odder chapters in nickel history, and it makes a good companion to the set. All lots sell as-is, where-is, with no warranty expressed or implied. Preview in person before bidding.
