#1611 • Roll of Wheat Pennies in 50¢ Paper Wrapper with Lincoln Wheat Ear Insert
Part of October Multi-Estate Auction (timed auction by Bid Fast and Last)
High bid $15.00
Status: Available
A roll of wheat pennies, ready for the collector who likes a little history with their copper. The roll comes in a classic brown kraft paper wrapper with red stripes and red printing reading "50¢ PENNIES." Stamped across it in black ink is what appears to be "LINCOLN WHEAT CENTS," with a "50" partly visible above. Both ends appear folded closed. It comes with a printed paper insert titled "LINCOLN WHEAT EAR PENNIES 1909 - 1958," in red lettering inside a red border on cream or white paper. The insert is a short history of the wheat cent: it covers the coin's tie to the 100th anniversary of Lincoln's birth, designer Victor David Brenner, the 95% copper composition with the exception of the 1943 zinc-coated steel issue, and striking at the Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco Mints. It is general background on the series, not a list of what is in this roll. A tidy, giftable piece of Americana for a new collector, a wheat cent fan, or anyone who still checks their change. All lots sell as-is, where-is, with no warranty expressed or implied. Preview in person before bidding.
