#706 • 14kt Gold Double-Barred Cross Pendant, CARAVACA Lettering, 6.0g
Part of October Multi-Estate Auction (timed auction by Bid Fast and Last)
High bid $325.00
Status: Available
A 14kt gold religious pendant with real presence: a double-barred cross, the word CARAVACA raised across the lower crossbar, split CARA and VACA on either side of the figure. The form and lettering point to what appears to be the Cross of Caravaca, a devotional design associated with Caravaca de la Cruz, Spain. The color work sets it apart. A rose/pink crucifix figure sits at the center against the yellow cross body. Two winged angel figures in white/silver flank the base, one on each side. Up top, a raised crown topped with a small cross. Below the figure's feet, an oval panel holds what appears to be a flame-like motif above a chalice- or stand-shaped element. The face carries a fine crosshatch texture, with bright-cut faceted edges catching light along the borders. It hangs from a jump ring on a smooth, folded bail, ready for the chain of your choosing. Look closely and there appear to be a couple of small dark specks near the figure, and the angels look to show some uneven darker areas. Small things on a piece with this much going on. 14kt Gold Weight: 6.0g All lots sell as-is, where-is, with no warranty expressed or implied. Preview in person before bidding.
