Part of October Multi-Estate Auction (timed auction by Bid Fast and Last)

High bid $10.00

Status: Available

Two presidents, one lot. This is a pair of Presidential Proof Sets from American Mint, one for James Monroe and one for Abraham Lincoln. Each insert is printed 'PRESIDENTIAL PROOF SET' and 'LIMITED EDITION 20,000', with the American Mint logo. Every piece in both sets is gold in color. Each set pairs one large gold-colored medal with one smaller gold-colored coin. The Monroe medal reads 'JAMES MONROE · 5TH PRESIDENT OF THE U.S.' and carries the dates 1817 and 1825. Its companion coin reads 'JAMES MONROE' above the portrait and '5th PRESIDENT 1817-1825' below. The Lincoln medal shows a Lincoln portrait with a legend that appears to read 'ABRAHAM LINCOLN · 16TH PRESIDENT OF THE U.S.', and what appear to be the dates 1861 and 1865. Its smaller coin shows what appears to be a portrait of Lincoln. Both sets sit in clear rectangular holders with rounded corners and black printed inserts. Two folded American Mint certificates printed 'Presidential Coin Sets' come with the lot. The holder plastic shows what appear to be fine scratches and scuffs, and the small coins show what appears to be uneven, mottled toning. A tidy pair for a presidential collection, or a ready-made gift for the history buff who already has everything else. All lots sell as-is, where-is, with no warranty expressed or implied.
