#1719 • Mixed Foreign Coinage Lot in 2x2 Flips - Bermuda, Bahamas, German, British

Part of October Multi-Estate Auction (timed auction by Bid Fast and Last)

High bid $25.00

Status: Available

A world tour in a box of cardboard flips. Each coin sits in its own 2x2 holder with a clear window, stapled shut by a collector who wrote country, denomination and date on many of them in ink. Others were left blank, which is a small mystery for whoever wins this. The lot looks to be about 30 flips, with more tucked beneath. The Commonwealth pieces lead. There is a coin reading BERMUDA and ELIZABETH II around a crowned portrait. There is a sailboat TWENTY-FIVE CENTS in a flip labeled 'Commonwealth of the Bahamas 25¢ 1981', and what appears to be a rounded-square Bahamas piece with an Elizabeth II portrait, in a flip labeled 'Commonwealth of the Bahamas 10¢ 1980'. West Germany checks in with a BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND 50 PFENNIG. The older material is labeled 'British 1907' (a dark copper-colored coin with a male bust), 'One British Penny 1920' (copper-colored, with a bust) and 'British Half Penny 1920'. Another flip appears to be labeled 'British One Penny 1919'. A flip labeled 'Turkiye Cumhuriyeti 1948' holds a coin with dark toning or green spotting. Other labels shown include 'British Caribbean Territories Eastern Group 1955', 'Deutsches Reich 2 Pfennig', 'Italia 1955' and 'Tunisie 1921'. The flips show their age: several have brown staining, foxing or water marks, and one penny holder has rusted staples. The handwritten labels are by an unknown hand and are not checked against the coins. All lots sell as-is, where-is, with no warranty expressed or implied. Preview in person before bidding.
