#1638 • (8) 1945-1958 Wheat Pennies - Lincoln Cents in 2x2 Holders

Part of October Multi-Estate Auction (timed auction by Bid Fast and Last)

High bid $10.00

Status: Available

Eight Lincoln cents, each in its own 2x2 cardboard holder, listed as wheat pennies dated 1945-1958. The headliner sits top-left: a holder marked '1958 1c Last Year RD BU'. The coin inside shows what appears to be a date ending in '58' and a bright orange-red copper color that stands out from the rest of the group. That 'Last Year' note looks to be a nod to 1958 as the final year of the wheat-ears reverse before the Lincoln Memorial design arrived in 1959. The rest of the run is labeled by hand in ink: 1945-S, 1946, 1950-D, 1956 (two of them), 1957 and 1957-D. Three mint-marked labels, so this is a pick of dates, not a straight run. The handwritten grades read VF on five holders and XF on the 1957 and 1950-D. These seven coins appear brown to gray-brown, and the 1957 holder's coin shows reddish-brown toning. The 1950-D-labeled coin appears to have darker spotting on the obverse. One reverse shows 'ONE CENT' on brown surfaces with specks and spots. A few holders show their age. The second 1956 holder appears to be gray cardboard with what looks to be a wrinkled window, the 1958 holder appears to have a round mark beside the coin, and the 1957 holder carries tape or residue marks. Listing line: Includes: 1945-1958 Wheat Pennies All lots sell as-is, where-is, with no warranty expressed or implied. Preview in person before bidding.
