#3518 • Bird Decor Collection: Birds of the World Book, Bird Figures & Framed Drawings
Part of October Multi-Estate Auction (timed auction by Bid Fast and Last)
High bid $20.00
Status: Available
A whole shelf of birds, ready to roost somewhere new. Leading the flock is a copy of Birds of the World, its dust jacket credited to illustrations by Arthur Singer. The jacket shows tears and chips along the top edge. Then the figures. Painted birds perch on driftwood and branch bases, looking to be carved wood: orange-breasted dark-headed birds, a red-headed black-and-white woodpecker type, a pheasant type, a white owl, and a gull with wings spread. Add a pair of white doves on a yellow-green base, two small white birds, a red-headed duck with a blue speckled body, and a light wood bird in flight. There are flat, dark flying birds with cut feather detailing, a bark-textured arch with a yellow bird tucked inside and more perched on top, a gold-toned quail type, and a cream owl with brown feather markings. A rooster and hen with red combs, in what appears to be wicker or rattan, round out the barnyard wing. On the wall side: one light wood frame with a white mat holding six small black-and-white drawings in two rows of three. Two are birds, a woodpecker, appearing to be captioned 'Downy Woodpecker', and a jay-type bird on a branch. The other four show trees, landscapes, snow scenes and a tall-windowed building. Each carries small pencil notations in the margin, and one appears to be dated '1971'. Includes: Bird Statues, Birds of the World Book, Hand Drawn Bird Sketches, and More. All lots sell as-is, where-is, with no warranty expressed or implied. Preview in person before bidding.
