The design is pure swashbuckler. A bearded pirate in a tricorn hat with skull and crossbones holds a coin up to one eye. A sailing ship and an open treasure chest sit at left, stacks of coins fill the foreground, a palm tree stands at right and a tied sack rests at lower right. The metal shows what appears to be a pale yellow gold color. The label reads 'Pirate Treasure 9KT Au.' Nine karat is nine parts in twenty-four, or 37.5% gold, which matches the stated gold content.
