An Elgin open-face pocket watch in a 14kt gold filled case, with ELGIN printed right below the 12. Classic layout: Arabic hour numerals, a minute track around the outer edge, and a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 marked 10 through 60. A scrolled, foliate pattern fills the center of the dial around and below the maker's name, and the hands look to be blued steel. The case has plenty of decoration. A fluted crown sits on the pendant at 12, the bow and pendant carry an engraved leaf pattern, and the case edge and bezel are engraved too. The caseback is plain and smooth, with no monogram on its face. It shows its years. The dial has grey-brown discoloration and staining, heaviest on the left half and around the center. The caseback has scattered fine scratches and dark spots. It's a good piece for a collector, a display case, or anyone who wants an Elgin on a vest chain.
