#1302 • 1889 Morgan Silver Dollar - Philadelphia, 90% Silver, 26.7g
Part of October Multi-Estate Auction (timed auction by Bid Fast and Last)
High bid $55.00
Status: Available
An 1889 Morgan silver dollar, with the date crisp and legible right below the bust. LIBERTY reads clean across the headband of the left-facing Liberty head, and E PLURIBUS UNUM arcs around the upper rim. The edge is reeded. The obverse carries what appears to be gray toning, darker toward the rim, with bluish and brownish tones in the fields, most noticeable around the stars and the date. The design looks to be the classic Morgan type: Liberty in a cap, with wheat and cotton in her hair and stars at left and right. The high points, including the hair above the ear and the cheek, appear to show wear. This coin has been handled and has some character to show for it. The listing gives 90% silver, the Philadelphia mint and a weight of 26.7g. That stated weight looks to be consistent with the published standard weight for a Morgan dollar. A nineteenth-century silver dollar is a good thing to own. Put it in your hand. 90% Silver Mint: Philadelphia Weight: 26.7g All lots sell as-is, where-is, with no warranty expressed or implied.
