#1304 • 1898 Morgan Silver Dollar

Part of October Multi-Estate Auction (timed auction by Bid Fast and Last)

High bid $55.00

Status: Available

An 1898 Morgan silver dollar. The date is crisp and legible below the bust, and the obverse carries the full Morgan design: Liberty facing left, LIBERTY across her headband, E PLURIBUS UNUM arching overhead and 13 stars running around the rim. Reeded edge. This one has some character. Dark gray toning settles into the fields and around the stars and lettering, while the raised design stays lighter, so the portrait stands out against the darker ground. Light scratches cross the cheek, the neck and the fields. The high points of the hair, cap and cheek appear worn, with the fine detail in the hair reduced. There is what appears to be a small dark nick at the lower hair near the neck truncation, and what looks to be a small irregular section of reeding on the edge below the date. A Morgan with honest, visible history, for the collector filling a date run or anyone who wants a real piece of the series in hand. The listing's own lines: 90% Silver. Mint: San Francisco. Weight: 26.3g. All lots sell as-is, where-is, with no warranty expressed or implied. Preview in person before bidding.
