#1306 • 1901 Morgan Silver Dollar, 90% Silver, 26.3g
Part of October Multi-Estate Auction (timed auction by Bid Fast and Last)
High bid $60.00
Status: Available
A 1901 Morgan silver dollar, one coin, ready for a new home. The date sits right where it belongs at the bottom of the obverse, between the stars, under the classic left-facing Liberty head with LIBERTY across the headband and E PLURIBUS UNUM arching over the top. Reeded edge. The obverse wears its years in color: gray and dark toning settles into the fields and around the stars, with greenish-brown tones mixed in, while the raised design shows lighter silver on the high points of the hair and cheek. That contrast makes the portrait stand out. The high points appear to show wear, with the hair above the ear and the cheek looking smooth, and what appear to be small marks or scratches show on the neck and cheek. Plenty of character for a Morgan collection or a silver stack.
